Deputy Director, Protocol and Conference Services

Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation of credentials for Government Officials attending regional and international meetings and conferences in accordance with the Vienna Convention and host governments’ laws and regulations
• Coordinate the provision of internationally acceptable protocol services and advice at diplomatic functions, international conferences,meetings and on State and official visits
• Monitor the accreditation of foreign Heads of Missions and International Organizations and arrange their courtesy calls and presentation of letters of credence to the Head of State
• Monitor the accreditation of diplomats, the processing of diplomatic identity cards and diplomatic visas in liaison with the Immigration Department
• Provide advice in the designing of training modules for protocol training programmes
• Implement diplomatic privileges and immunities in accordance with the Vienna Conventions on Political and Consular Relations and the Privileges and Immunities Act of Zimbabwe
• Monitor the registration of locally recruited staff of diplomatic and international organizations
• Liaise with the Civil Aviation of Zimbabwe on the issuance of airport passes to diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe
• Coordinate the preparation of travel arrangements for Officials, over flight clearance, travel allowances, transport and accommodation
• Compile and update the Diplomatic Handbook
• Supervise, counsel and coach subordinates
