Deputy Director, Americas

Responsibilities

• Implement policies governing Zimbabwe’s political and economic relations with American countries
• Supervise the drafting of briefs, reports, speeches and policy position papers for senior management
• Facilitate meetings between resident American Diplomatic Missions and other Government Ministries and Departments
• Facilitate political, economic social and strategic developments in Americas with the view to assess their implications for bilateral, regional and international relations
• Maintain proactive interaction between Zimbabwe and all American Diplomatic and International Organisations accredited to Zimbabwe
• Provide technical assistance in the negotiation and signing of agreements between Zimbabwe and other countries and organisations (Joint Commissions, BIPPAs)
• Participate in meetings, conferences and workshops involving Diplomats and the Government and other stakeholders.
• Initiate position/discussion papers on foreign policy issues and developments of national interest.
• Analyse political, economic and socio cultural developments in American countries.
• Mobilise moral, political and diplomatic support for Zimbabweans within the American region.
