Deputy Director, Americas
Position Overview
The incumbent will report to the Director, Europe and the Americas and will be responsible for implementing policies governing Zimbabwe’s political and economic relations with American countries.
Responsibilities
Implement policies governing Zimbabwe’s political and economic relations with American countries
Supervise the drafting of briefs, reports, speeches and policy position papers for senior management
Facilitate meetings between resident American Diplomatic Missions and other Government Ministries and Departments
Facilitate political, economic social and strategic developments in Americas with the view to assess their implications for bilateral, regional and international relations
Maintain proactive interaction between Zimbabwe and all American Diplomatic and International Organisations accredited to Zimbabwe
Provide technical assistance in the negotiation and signing of agreements between Zimbabwe and other countries and organisations (Joint Commissions, BIPPAs)
Participate in meetings, conferences and workshops involving Diplomats and the Government and other stakeholders.
Initiate position/discussion papers on foreign policy issues and developments of national interest.
Analyse political, economic and socio cultural developments in American countries.
Mobilise moral, political and diplomatic support for Zimbabweans within the American region.
Qualifications
A Social Science Degree with a bias in International Relations and Economics
A Master’s Degree would be an added advantage
At least 2 years experience as a Principal Administrative Officer

Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate good leadership qualities
