Deputy Director, Provincial Planning & Modelling

Position Overview

Participating in the formulation and review of synchronised Provincial Economic plans, strategies and programmes in line with the Ministry’s mandate, strategic plan as well as national development imperatives; Producing draft coordinated strategies, policies and programmes for harmonizing provincial economic development; Monitoring progress in the implementation of Provincial Economic Development plans.

Responsibilities

Participate in the formulation and review of synchronised Provincial Economic plans, strategies and programmes in line with the Ministry’s mandate, strategic plan as well as national development imperatives
Produce draft coordinated strategies, policies and programmes for harmonizing provincial economic development
Monitor progress in the implementation of Provincial Economic Development plans
Recommend provincial economic development models
Produce provincial Economic Development matrices
Carry out research on provincial changes in economic structure and trends
Supervise, counsel and coach staff within the Section.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Fiscal Studies or equivalent
A relevant Masters degree is an added advantage
At least six (6) years relevant experience at Economist level or equivalent grade
Sound knowledge of current national Economic Development Policies and Programmes including the Devolution Policy
Thorough understanding of the functions of government and the mandates of Line Ministries, Departments/ Agencies and Public Entities

Ability to employ information communication technology in economic planning and modeling and related decision areas.
