User Interface (UI) And User Experience (UX) Engineer

Position Overview

The User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Engineer specializes in translating user interface designs into functional and engaging digital experiences. This role effectively bridges the gap between design and development, with a focus on creating intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly digital products by integrating design thinking principles with proficient coding skills.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain user interface (UI) elements and interactive features using coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, adhering to industry-standard frameworks and tools to optimize application user experience
Conduct research on emerging and disruptive technologies, and develop innovative application prototypes to demonstrate potential adoption strategies
Participate in concept development, design ideation, and the creation of user-centered design solutions that align with strategic business objectives and product roadmaps
Interpret system requirements and conceptualize innovative application designs to effectively address and resolve business challenges
Develop wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to visualize and test design concepts, facilitating iterative refinement
Collaborate effectively with business analysts, software engineers, product managers, and other engineering teams to ensure a cohesive and user-centric product development process
Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to iteratively refine designs and enhance the overall user experience
Develop reusable code components and build widget libraries to promote efficiency and consistency in future development projects
Optimize design elements for maximum application speed and scalability
Ensure all designs and implementations adhere to established accessibility standards, such as WCAG
Create clear and concise documentation for developers and designers, facilitating seamless collaboration and knowledge transfer
Identify and resolve design and implementation issues, ensuring optimal product functionality and user satisfaction
Maintain current knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in UX/UI design and development, fostering continuous improvement
Collaborate with technical staff to conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that developed application software/solutions meet user requirements and expectations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a closely related field
Professional certifications in programming or related disciplines are considered a significant advantage
A minimum of three years of demonstrable, relevant professional experience is required.

Skills

Proven expertise in front-end development, substantiated by a robust portfolio showcasing relevant projects
Advanced proficiency in HTML, CSS, and CSS preprocessors, such as Sass
Substantial experience with contemporary front-end frameworks, including React, Angular, and Vue.js
Comprehensive familiarity with industry-standard design tools, including Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and InVision Studio
A thorough understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development methodologies
Practical experience working within Agile development methodologies and utilizing application software version control platforms, such as GitHub
Familiarity with automated testing tools, including Selenium, Jasmine, and Karma
Knowledge of application containerization platforms, such as Docker, AWS Fargate, and Google Kubernetes Engine
Demonstrated strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to function effectively as a collaborative team player within cross-functional teams.
