Deputy Director, Policy Analysis

Position Overview

Analyse Government policies to ensure policy coherence and consistency; Harmonise the policy formulation process with a view to eliminating inconsistencies, duplications and redundant efforts; Analyse both internal and external socio-economic policies and proffer technical advice on their impact on the country’s economic growth and development; Examine the relevance of Government policies, programmes, or projects to ensure that they can be modified, amended, continued, or halted to meet public interest and demand; Partner with independent Think Tanks to strengthen the depth of the policy formulation and analysis process.

Responsibilities

Analyse Government policies to ensure policy coherence and consistency
Harmonise the policy formulation process with a view to eliminating inconsistencies, duplications and redundant efforts
Analyse both internal and external socio-economic policies and proffer technical advice on their impact on the country’s economic growth and development
Examine the relevance of Government policies, programmes, or projects to ensure that they can be modified, amended, continued, or halted to meet public interest and demand
Partner with independent Think Tanks to strengthen the depth of the policy formulation and analysis process
Participate in negotiations for international financial facilities as well as cooperation agreements with development partners
Participate in the programmes of the National Economic Consultative Forum (NECF), the private international business and financial institutions
Maintain an updated database of Government policies, programmes and macroeconomic indicators.

Qualifications

A Degree in Social Science with a bias in Public Administration or Public Policy
Possession of a Master’s Degree with a bias in Public Administration or Public Policy would be an added advantage
A minimum of six (6) years of experience as an Administrative Officer or equivalent grade in the Public Service.

Ability to interact and communicate with stakeholders at all levels
Must possess analytical skills
Must be mature and able to handle confidential Information
Thorough understanding of Public Administration and Public Policy
Ability to employ information communication technology in policy analysis and related decision areas.
