Deputy Director, National Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Coordination Unit

Position Overview

The incumbent will report to the Director, National Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Coordination Unit, contributing to the formulation, implementation and review of National Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) policies, programmes and legislation in line with the Ministry’s strategic plan and national development imperatives

Responsibilities

Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of National Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) policies, programmes and legislation in line with the Ministry’s strategic plan and national development imperatives
Develop medium and long term plans to satisfy present and future water sanitation and hygiene demands for urban areas, growth points and rural service centers
Develop and manage partnership arrangements and linkages with potential Development Partners
Monitor operations of the various Development Partners and other Government Departments on water sanitation and hygiene activities countrywide
Monitor and report on specific water sanitation and hygiene projects in the country
Conduct awareness initiatives on safe waste disposal and other initiatives like the commemoration of the National Sanitation week, Global Hand Washing Day and World water day among others
Design and develop appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems and integrated interventions for WASH in consultation with other stakeholders
Promote Gender mainstreaming in the WASH sector
Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates

Qualifications

A degree in Social Sciences with a bias in Public Health/Integrated Water Resources Management Degree or equivalent
A relevant Master’s Degree is an added advantage
At least 6 years experience in the Officer or equivalent grade
