Deputy Director, Microeconomic Policy Formulation & Analysis

Position Overview

Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of Micro-economic policies, strategies and programmes in line with the Ministry’s mandate, strategic plan and national development imperatives; Monitor progress in the implementation of the National budget; Coordinate research on contemporary topical economic topics

Responsibilities

Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of Micro-economic policies, strategies and programmes in line with the Ministry’s mandate, strategic plan and national development imperatives
Monitor progress in the implementation of the National budget
Coordinate research on contemporary topical economic top
Coordinate exchange rate control matters in line with prevailing economic fundamentals
Coordinate the management of the country’s Off-Balance Sheet (OBS) issues
Coordinate implementation of regional and international economic groupings commitments such as Southern African Development Community Micro Economic Convergence (SADC MEC) and Peer Review Meetings
Produce Fiscal Risk Analysis reports
Supervise, counsel and coach subordinates

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Fiscal Studies or equivalent
A relevant Masters degree in the above mentioned field(s) is an added advantage
At least six (6) years experience in the Economist or equivalent grade.

Skills

Economic, planning, forecasting and modeling skills
Sound knowledge of current national Economic Development Policies and Programmes including the Devolution Policy
Thorough understanding of the functions of government and the mandates of Line Ministries, Departments/ Agencies and Public Entities
Strong research and analytical skills
Good oral and written communication with a broad spectrum of stakeholders
Strong leadership and team building skills
Ability to employ information communication technology in Micro-economic planning, formulation analysis and related decision areas
