Role Overview

1. Participate in the formulation, implementation and review of local government policies and strategies for Local Authorities in the Province in line with the enabling legislation 2. Coordinate the implementation of capacity building programmes and other related programmes for Local Authorities to enhance their effective service delivery 3. Develop and manage systems for the management of State land in the Province 4. Contribute to the administration of traditional leadership, civil protection and physical planning portfolios at Provincial level 5. Facilitate the involvement of Traditional Leaders in rural and cultural development programmes and projects in the communities 6. Provide administrative and management support to the Director in the discharge of any delegated national duties, state functions and ceremonies in the Province 7. Develop and manage a database on all Local Governance matters related to the Ministry within the Province 8. Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Social Science Degree in Public Administration and Management, Development Planning, Development Studies, Rural/ Local Government Administration/ Urban Development Planning or any equivalent qualification
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in any of the above fields is an added advantage
  • At least 6 years experience in the Administrative Officer or any other equivalent grade
  • A thorough understanding of National Development policies, priorities and goals
  • Must have a good understanding of Ministerial functions and Government operations
  • Possess good leadership qualities
  • Ability to interact and communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Ability to make sound and good judgement
  • Ability to employ information communication technologies in local governance and related decision areas
