Director, Rural Industrialisation Coordination

Role Overview

1. Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of rural industrialization coordination policies and strategies in line with the Ministry’s mandate and national development imperatives.2.Translate high-level national development frameworks (such as national visions and economic strategies) into actionable local programs.3. Drive value addition, agro-processing, and commercialization initiatives within rural agricultural sectors.4. Coordinate the establishment of localized economic engines such as village business units, vocational centers, and rural industrial hubs to spur employment.5. Facilitate cooperation across government ministries, local governance structures, and private investors to secure funding and market access for rural industrialization coordination.6. Track the progress, performance, and socio-economic impact of rural industrialization coordination initiatives to inform factual decision making.7. Provide technical input into the procurement of goods and services for rural industrialization coordination programmes.8. Superintend over the development of budgets and funding strategies for the department.9. Manage a database for rural industrialization coordination at national level.9. Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Agriculture, Business Administration, Development Studies, or an equivalent
  • A relevant Master’s degree in the aforementioned field(s) is an added advantage
  • A minimum of 8 years experience, of which two (2) years must be at Deputy Director Grade or equivalent
  • Deep familiarity with national policies (such as Vision 2030 and National Development Strategies)
  • Project management knowledge
  • Competence in utilizing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for policy monitoring
  • Proven research skills
  • Proven track record in agro-processing or rural enterprise development
  • Strategic thinking and stakeholder management
  • Leadership and management skills.
