DEPUTY DIRECTOR, INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT

Role Overview
The incumbent will report to Director, Research and Statistics and will be responsible for, contributing to the development and implementation of the Ministry’s innovation policies and strategies in line with the Ministry’s mandate and national development imperatives, facilitate the collection of information from paper based sources, the internet, online databases and from members of the public, provide guidance and advice on appropriate research methods for data analysis, project requirements, policy development, objectives and research references, provide liaison with policy customers and external researchers, coordinate the writing of innovation and development speeches, articles, policy papers and research briefs, supervise the writing of research specifications, provide technical input into the procurement of goods and services for innovation and development and supervise, coach and counsel subordinates.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in Education or equivalent qualification
- A Master’s degree in the above is an added advantage
- At least six (6) years of experience at an Education Research Officer Grade or equivalent
- Proven extensive research skills
- Extensive experience in the education sector
- Understanding of the Ministry functions and national development priorities
- Ability to use ICTs in the design, implementation and review of innovation and development policies, programmes and projects and related decision areas
