Role Overview

The incumbent will report to Director , Library, Documentation and Technical Services and will be responsible for implementing the National Library policy, standards and guidelines at Provincial level, monitor the implementation of long term plans for the maintenance and improvements of library facilities in the Province, oversee the cataloguing, classification, acquisition and weeding of library materials to maintain relevancy and quality, provide training, advice and assistance to Librarians in all aspects of planning, promoting and managing affiliate library services in the Province, organize and coordinate training of teacher librarians in the Province, facilitate the registration and deregistration of affiliates libraries in the province and Develop partnerships with stakeholders such as government Ministries, Departments, Agencies, development partners, local authorities and communities to mobilize resources for library development.

Requirements & Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management or equivalent
A relevant Master’s degree would be an added advantage
At least six (6) years’ experience in the Librarian grade or equivalent
In-depth knowledge of library management systems and information literacy
Proficiency in ICT and digital library platforms
Knowledge of current literature and professional trends
Management and supervisory skills
Written and oral communication
