Role Overview

The incumbent will report to Director, Curriculum Development and will be responsible for managing the development and review of syllabi, learning materials and assessment frameworks for languages and humanities subjects in consultation with stakeholders, give policy guidelines on the implementation of the formal and non-formal school curriculum on Languages and Humanities, collaborate with teacher training institutions to strengthen pre-service and in-service training for languages and humanities teachers, advise the Ministry on policy issues related to language of instruction, multilingualism and humanities education, coordinate with Universities, NGO’s and development partners on languages and humanities research and programmes support and provide technical input into the procurement of goods and services for languages and humanities.

Requirements & Qualifications

A degree in Education with a bias in Languages and Humanities subjects
A relevant Masters’ degree will be an added advantage
At least Six (6) years of experience in the Education Research Officer/Material Production Officer grade or equivalent or At least two (2) years experience in the School Head Grade
Advanced knowledge of curriculum design and implementation of languages and humanities
Strong understanding of key concepts, pedagogies and methodologies specific to languages and humanities
Expertise in designing evaluation tools
Knowledge of national education policies and their application within curriculum development and delivery
Ability to work under minimum supervision
