Role Overview

Interpret and implement the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Act (Chapter 17:12) and other relevant legislation for the effective management of the District Office; Maintain the District Register for War Veterans, Ex Detainees, Ex Restrictees and War Collaborators; Process War Veterans, Ex Detainees, Ex Restrictees and War Collaborators benefits which cover education health, funeral, loans and projects at District level; Organise capacity developments workshops for War Veterans, Ex Detainees, Ex Restrictees and War Collaborators at District level, Provide expert guidance to War Veterans, Ex Detainees, Ex Restrictees and War Collaborators in identifying viable projects and in the preparation of project documents/proposals; Develop frameworks to ensure that War Veterans, Ex Detainees, Ex Restrictees and War Collaborators participate fully in national empowerment projects and programmes being implemented in the District in liaison with other line Ministries, Government Departments and developments; Monitor evaluate projects undertaken by War Veterans, Ex Detainees, Ex Restrictees and War Collaborators at District level; Represent the Ministry in District Land Committee meetings; Produce monthly reports

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Social Science Degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the War Veterans Acts and Regulations
  • A thorough understanding of National development policies and priorities
  • An understanding of veterans’ rights, policies, and support programmes including healthcare, education and economic empowerment
  • Proficiency in conducting outreach programs to identify and address the need for war veterans and their dependants at the grassroots level
  • Competence in handling grievances from veterans, mediating disputes, ensuring fair treatment
  • Skills in gathering, maintaining and analysing data related to veterans and services, preparing detailed reports to inform the decision making
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Must be a self starter
