Role Overview
Contribute to the formulation of policies and strategies that enhance the competitiveness of industries in line with national development imperatives; Coordinate the evaluation of the competitive landscape of various industries; Analyse market trends, economic indicators and policy impacts on industrial performance; Collaborate with Ministries, Departments, Agencies and the private sector to develop strategies aimed at improving industrial; Provide technical advice to companies on strategies that enhance competitiveness in local, regional and international markets; Establish and maintain a comprehensive database of industry performance metrics and competitive; Supervise assessments of industry performance against regional and global standards to identify gaps and opportunities; Promote the integration of technology and innovative practices to improve productivity and global competitiveness in the industry; Supervise and counsel subordinates.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Management/Administration, Commerce or equivalent
- A Masters degree in the above fields will be an added advantage
- A minimum of six (6) years relevant experience at Officer/ Economist level or equivalent
- Advanced skills in analysing economic trends, market dynamics, and supply chain performance to inform strategic interventions
- Expertise in identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities in the industry to enhance competitiveness
- Comprehensive knowledge of international trade agreements, market access conditions, and service sector liberalization policies
- Proficiency in integrating technology and innovative practices to improve productivity and global competitiveness in the services industry
- Ability to gather and analyse data on global and regional service markets to inform strategic decision-making
- Expertise in assessing manufacturing performance against regional and global standards to identify gaps and opportunities
- Sound knowledge and understanding of industrial development and value chain dynamics
- Sound knowledge of current National Economic Development Policies, Programmes and Priorities.
