Role Overview

Lead the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of Tourism Development and Facilitation policies in alignment with the Ministry’s mandate, strategic objectives, and national development priorities. ;Coordinate the design and execution of business development strategies aimed at attracting investment into the tourism and hospitality sector. ;Establish and maintain collaboration with Government Ministries, Departments, Parastatals, and other stakeholders involved in tourism development initiatives. ;Oversee and monitor standards within tourism facilities to ensure compliance with local, regional, and international tourism and hospitality regulations. ;Coordinate tourism development and promotion support services provided by key sectors such as transport, immigration, utilities, and financing, including managing the functions of the National Tourism Facilitation Committee. ;Direct research and strategic planning for the tourism industry, including the development of tourism infrastructure and related facilities in consultation with stakeholders. Coordinate the preparation of budgets and funding strategies for tourism development and facilitation programs. Provide technical guidance in the procurement of goods and services related to tourism development and facilitation activities.; Manage and maintain an integrated database for domestic tourism development and facilitation programs, including report generation and analysis.;Supervise, mentor, coach, and support subordinate staff.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Marketing, Business Studies, or a related field.
  • A Master’s Degree in any of the above disciplines will be an added advantage.
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of two (2) years serving at Deputy Director level or an equivalent position.
  • Strong understanding of Zimbabwe’s tourism industry and operating environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current National Development policies, programmes, and strategic priorities.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively both locally and internationally.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse sectors.
  • Proficiency in the use of information and communication technology (ICT) for monitoring domestic tourism promotion programmes and supporting decision-making processes.
