Deputy Director, Gender Mainstreaming and Inclusivity

Role Overview

Contribute to the formulation, implementation and evaluation of gender mainstreaming and inclusivity policies, strategies and programmes in the Ministry in consultation with Heads of Departments and make recommendations to the Director; Coordinate the review of workplace policies and procedures in the Ministry, ensuring that these are all inclusive; Provide guidance for the implementation and institutionalization of gender, inclusivity policies, strategies, and programs and effectively communicate and advocate these initiatives to all members within the Ministry; Coordinate the implementation of policies and programs on the welfare of persons with disabilities in the Ministry, ensuring their effective execution and adherence; Provide public utilities within the Ministry that are accessible and free from discrimination, promoting equal opportunities for persons with disabilities; Develop and manage strategic partnerships with stakeholders such as the Zimbabwe Gender Commission, other Line Ministries and Civil Society organizations to entrench gender mainstreaming and inclusivity issues in the Ministry and ensure that they feed into the national agenda; Develop and manage capacity development programs aimed at enhancing members' understanding of gender mainstreaming and inclusivity issues within the Ministry; Monitor internal and external trends and identify best practices that promote diversity among the Ministry's workforce, fostering a culture of inclusivity; Develop frameworks to ensure that all activities, plans, and programs within the Ministry are inclusive and gender mainstreamed at all times, contributing to a more equitable workplace; Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Gender Studies or a Social Science degree with a bias in gender mainstreaming or equivalent.
  • A Master’s Degree in the above mentioned field(s) is an added advantage.
  • At least 6 years’ experience at Officer Level.
  • Relevant experience in the areas of gender mainstreaming and inclusivity.
  • Knowledge of the functions of Government Ministries/Departments and Agencies.
  • An understanding of the Public Service Regulations.
  • Well-developed communication and analytical skills.
  • Team leader.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to employ information communication technology in the design, deployment and monitoring of gender mainstreaming and inclusivity programmes and projects.
