Role Overview

Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of international trade policies in line with the Ministry’s strategic plan and national development aspirations.; Facilitate the formulation, implementation and review of the National Trade Policy and the National Export Strategy in consultation with stakeholders.; Coordinate and promote trade and investment through Zimbabwean Diplomatic Missions in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and other Government Departments.rn

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of international trade policies in line with the Ministry’s strategic plan and national development aspirations.; Facilitate the formulation, implementation and review of the National Trade Policy and the National Export Strategy in consultation with stakeholders.; Coordinate and promote trade and investment through Zimbabwean Diplomatic Missions in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and other Government Departments.; Coordinate, negotiate, domesticate as well as provide guidance of/on bilateral, regional and multilateral trade and investment agreements, protocols and treaties.; Facilitate Zimbabwe’s participation in regional and international trading organizations meetings, conferences and international trade and investment fairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.; Collaborate with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on hosting bilateral, regional and multilateral trade meetings for incoming and outgoing trade missions.; Promote Zimbabwe’s exports of goods and services through Zimbabwe’s Diplomatic Missions and ZimTrade by strengthening bilateral, multilateral and regional trade relations and cooperation.; Provide market intelligence support by providing information to key stakeholders on export markets and how exported products are faring in the export market.; Facilitate foreign exhibitors participation at Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, Zimbabwe’s Agricultural shows, among others, through Diplomatic Missions.; Monitor negotiations with International Financial Institutions.; Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates.rn

Requirements & Qualifications

A degree in Economics, Business Studies, International Trade or equivalent.; A relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage.; At least eight (8) years experience, of which two (2) years must be at Deputy Director or equivalent grade.; Thorough understanding of the Ministry’s functionsrn

Required Skills

Ability to analyse and interpret trade policies, agreements and regulations. Proficiency in economic modelling and analysis to assess the impact of trade policies. Ability to conduct market research and analysis to identify trade opportunities and challenges. Expertise in negotiating trade agreements and resolving trade disputes. Knowledge of national development aspirations. Communication skills. Ability to employ information communication technology in international trade programmes and related decision areas.rn
